Weather |

Weather The weather in the VI is absolutely magnificent. The average temperature is 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind is typically from the ENE at an average speed of 15 knots (about 19 MPH). The wind strength is usually a little higher from November through May and lighter from June through September.
You will often have a light rain in the late evening that will last for several minutes. There are occasional squalls that come up fast, last for 20 minutes and then rapidly dissipate.
It is very important to check the weather reports and forecasts at least twice each day. NOAA weather reports can be received on wx 2 and wx 4. There are also local weather reports transmitted at 6 AM, 2 PM and 10 PM on VHF channels 28 and 85. Brief weather advisories are also transmitted on VHF channel 16.

Squalls can come up quickly. They are usually fairly mild and dissipate rapidly. It is always prudent to steer clear of these wandering storms. |
